چکیده

To properly characterize the frequency and time selectivity of the fading channel, there several models used to simulate the channel, most of them based in the Jake’s simulator. In this work the second order statistics of this simulator are compared to actual measurements. The second-order statistics level crossing rate (LCR) and average duration of fading (ADF) of a random process transmits useful information of the original process, especially in the diversity-combining process. In this work analysis of LCR and ADF in several environments was performed. LCR is calculated in several envelope thresholds and its relationship with envelope change is analyzed. Average duration of fades (ADF) for several thresholds is calculated and analyzed. Graphics are provided of LCR and ADF for several different indoor environments.

Characterization of non-WSSUS fading dispersive channels

We present several novel tools for the statistical characterization of fading dispersive channels that do not satisfy the usual WSSUS assumption. A local scattering function, describing the timeand frequency-dependentaverage scatterer power, is introduced. Furthermore, a novel channel correlation function is presented that quantifies the scatterer correlation. Based on the channel correlation f...

Doubly Underspread Non-wssus Channels: Analysis and Estimation of Channel Statistics

The local scattering function (LSF) and the generalized channel correlation function have recently been introduced as intuitive and useful statistical characterization of fading channels that do not satisfy the usual WSSUS assumption [1]. In this paper, we present a generalized LSF and we demonstrate that for the subclass of practically relevant doubly underspread non-WSSUS channels, several us...

Information Theory of Underspread WSSUS Channels

In this chapter, we are interested in the ultimate limit on the rate of reliable communication over Rayleigh-fading channels that satisfy the wide-sense stationary (WSS) and uncorrelated scattering (US) assumptions and are underspread [Bel63, Ken69]. Therefore, the natural setting is an information-theoretic one, and the performance metric is channel capacity [CT91, Gal68]. The family of Raylei...

Statistical analysis of the received signal over multipath fading channels via generalization of shot-noise

This paper is a continiiation of the companion paper [l], in which miiltipath fading channels (MFC) are formulated as generalizations of the shotnoise analysis in investigating the statistical properties of wireless channels and their responses to different signals. These include second-order statistics, generalizations of Campbell’s theorem and central-limit theorems [2 ] . An application of t...

Time-scale domain characterization of non-WSSUS wideband channels

To account for nonstationarity, channel characterization and system design methods that employ the non-widesense stationary uncorrelated scattering (non-WSSUS) assumption are desirable. Furthermore, the inadequacy of the Doppler shift operator to properly account for the frequency shift in wideband channel implies that the timefrequency characterization methods that employ the Doppler shift ope...
